On Monday, April 7th, the Click2Move Consortium (Erasmus+) held its Final Conference at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (Vic, Spain), as part of the 1st Conference on Physical Activity and Occupational Health.
The aim of the event was to disseminate the project’s results and present its sustainability strategy. The conference was attended in person by practitioners, company managers, human resources professionals, and executives.
Dr. Eva Espasa, Vice-Rector for Research at UVic-UCC, and Prof. Anna M. Puig opened the event with a welcome address and an overview of the conference. Dr. Rafael Panadès, Head of the Occupational Health Coordination Service at the Public Health Agency of Catalonia, delivered a keynote on the challenges and actions related to physical activity and occupational health in Catalonia. Joining the conference online, Dr. Stephen Whiting, Technical Officer at the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Physical Activity for Health, discussed current challenges in promoting physical activity in workplaces across the European Region.
Focusing on the Click2Move project, Prof. Karin Proper and Dr. Bette Loef from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (The Netherlands) presented a keynote on the health impacts of sedentary behavior, particularly among office workers. This was followed by Dr. Judit Bort-Roig, project leader from UVic-UCC, who provided an overview of the Click2Move project.
Subsequent presentations were given by Dr. Kieran Dowd (Technological University of the Shannon), PhD researchers Alan Coffey (TUS, Ireland) and Iris Parés-Salomón (UVic-UCC, Spain), and Mr. Steven Bell, Head of the European Network for Workplace Health Promotion. They shared findings from a systematic review on digital solutions to reduce sedentary behavior among (home-)office workers, two qualitative studies on barriers and facilitators to reducing sedentary time from both managers’ and employees’ perspectives, and a training course for workplace health promoters. Dr. Anna M. Señé presented the structure of the project’s website and explained how the project’s scalability would be implemented.
The final presentations were delivered by Prof. Anna M. Puig and PhD researcher Anna Codina, who introduced the Active4SME and HappyOPA projects. The conference concluded with an open discussion among researchers, based on questions from the audience.
Finally, three workshops were held to explore future needs and opportunities. The event was officially closed by Dr. Marina Geli, Coordinator at the Health and Social Studies Center at UVic-UCC.
