Objectives

  • Co-design and tailor digital-based and crosscultural HEPA strategies to ‘sit less and move more’ in a computer-based, home-office context to improve employee’s well-being and job productivity.
  • Develop and facilitate training addressing employers’ occupational health services and managers to enhance the applicability of the digital-based and cross-cultural HEPA strategies among employees working from home.
  • Evaluate the applicability of the digital-based and cross-cultural strategies and its impact on employee’s sitting time during work hours, HEPA, well-being and job productivity.
  • Increase awareness about the importance of HEPA promotion at the workplace, and disseminate and communicate Click2Move knowledge, providing opportunities for the replication of the project strategies and experience across Europe.

Why this project?

Levels of physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour (SB) are high in the European Union. It considered a main risk factor for a number of diseases.

Recent technological advances in current workplaces have created and will continue to do into the future a sedentary environment, which impacts on the well-being (physical and mental health) and productivity of the worker.

The COVID-19 pandemic replaced the presence at the workplace with a remote mode, and nowadays, many companies are adopting home-office policies, it means an even more drastic reduction in physical activity (PA) and increased SB. According to the priorities of the EU policy on employment and social affairs,  workplace health promotion is important, especially computer-based jobs, office employees spent a lot of they working day sitting.

Self-monitoring is a key to increase individuals awareness of and empowerment towards behaviour change. Mobil health (mHealth) technology has a potential value in health promotion lies in its widespread appeal, accessibility and ability.

Who are the promoters?

The Click2Move project is an initiative promoted by a pan-European multidisciplinary partnership of Universities (Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya and Technological University of Shannon) and Organisations (Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu and Zavod APGA), working together with the European Network of Workplace Health Promotion (ENWHP).
